Review by John Schoenburger, Radio & Records

Walt Wilkins and his Mystiqueros are something of an Americana supergroup in the Hill Country region of Texas. Wilkins (vocals, guitar) has been recording and touring for 30 years and each of the other members - Ramon Rodriguez (drums, bocals), Bill Small (bass, guitar, vocals), John M. Greenberg (guitar, vocals) and Marcus Eldrige (guitar, vocals) - are successful artists in their own right. Yet when they get together onstate or in the studio, the egos are left at the door and these five players dedicate themselves to make sweet rootsy music.  Indeed, great playing, thoughtful arrangements and super harmonies are the order of the day on “Diamonds in the Sun.”
